Electric Bikes have become an alternative to contaminating and noisy vehicles when the planet urges an eco-friendly solution. People get stressed with traffic , dust and noise pollution. In some countries they are tending to use normal bikes for certain purposes , in order to save time and help with reducing planet contaminations. But a normal bike demands physical effort and is not as fast as convenient to being used on a daily basis for everyday purposes.

Electric Bikes were not always as popular as today. The first models were even slower and there were not many models to choose from. The batteries died in less than a year. Now they can go as far as 100 km on full charge which is more than enough for a day of riding. But the battery factor is still the weak point. Most of them use lead-acid batteries. In other words,  old century technology. Here is the key factor, say the experts. 

While lead-acid batteries are improving, Electric Bikes will create a much bigger market for lithium ion batteries. This is a new and lighter technology being developed for electric vehicles.

The experts say that taking business to other countries will increase the market, leaving revenues for market and research in order to improve the battery technology. They argue that in the future a battery could be developed not only for bikes but also for vehicles with more than 2 wheels.  

In China, the market leaders have developed partnerships with universities in order to improve battery technology. Some chinese Electric Bikes companies are ven working on electric cars. Some already finished plans include car for special uses such as cars for tourist to go around the city enjoying the landscapes.

Electric cars will need more powerful recharging stations that the ones being used in outlets to recharge this kind of bikes.  It is believes that when the electric car becomes a reality, the best market to accommodate it will be China, meaning hundreds of millions potential customers.

There is a story that some Top Manager at General Motors suggested that an electric bike should be given with every car sold so people would get use to a vehicle that needed to be plugged in for recharge. The other managers laughed. It seems when the electric revolution arrive , he is the one who is going to be laughing.

UK Warns Pregnant Women to Stay Away from Florida for Fear of Zika

Florida, a state that thrives on tourism, is on the receiving end of a warning by the British government that pregnant English women, or those who are planning to have families, ought to stay away because of the threat of the Zika virus. 

The warning, as reported by the BBC comes on the heels of the discovery by Miami-Dade County health officials of the first reported Zika cases in the U.S. where infected persons had contracted the mosquito-transmitted illness locally and not from when they were traveling abroad.

In most cases, those infected with Zika have no symptoms. However, pregnant women can pass the infection on to their infants, sometimes causing microcephaly, a severe birth defect that leaves babies with smaller-than- normal heads and brains. Florida officials reported on July 29, 2016 they had found 4 cases that had occurred locally in the state.

The U.S. government does not expect major outbreaks in America, but does anticipate clusters of the disease from local infection.
